"Vale dos Ares" is a brand inspired by the name of the old municipality “Valadares = Vale dos Ares”. This ancient municipality was officially established in the year 1317 and comprises the majority of the geographical area of Monção e Melgaço sub-region. Due to its size and ability to generate wealth, as well as the inability of some of the Portuguese Kings to control independently-minded population, its autonomy was postponed since the Foundation of Portugal in 1143. It is this liveliness and enthusiasm of the people of Valadares we take as the values of the "Vale dos Ares" brand.
